Does it tick?
No. It runs on a silent sweep movement, so the hands glide instead of stepping and there is no ticking, day or night. Quiet enough for a bedroom or an office. Watch the minute hand and you’ll see it move, not jump.
Is it battery operated? What battery does it take?
Yes. One standard AA battery, not included. Pop it in, set the time with the knob on the movement, and hang it from the keyhole on the back on one hook or screw. No cord, no app.
How big is it, and where does it look best?
The face is 12 in (30 cm) square; 14.3 in (36.4 cm) wide with the disc, 2 in (5 cm) deep, 3.3 lb (1.5 kg). About the size of a record sleeve, so it suits a living room wall above a console, a bedroom, a kitchen, an office or a hallway.
Is it real wood, and is the disc gold?
The face is solid wood: walnut-stained on Walnut Wood, painted on the five colors. The half-disc, hour markers and hands are solid metal in a brass-tone finish that reads as a warm gold.
Will the color match the photos?
Close, but screens vary. It is a walnut stain on solid wood, so the grain is real and each clock differs a little. It reads lighter in daylight and near dark chocolate at dusk (see In Any Light above). Not right? One message and it’s sorted.
